New Delhi: A day after Mumbai witnessed a major fire in the Mantralaya (the state Secretariat building) that killed three people; another incident of fire was reported from the capital city, Delhi on Friday morning. According to reports, a major fire near Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan hospital and GB Pant hospital broke out in illegal slum areas of Delhi.


A major fire engulfed a slum colony in the centre of Delhi that gutted 200-300 jhuggis.

It is being apprehended that some people have been charred to death.

25-30 fire brigade wagons are at the situation.

The fire brigade received the first call at 9:30 a.m.

The fire has been rated as medium by the fire brigade.

The road to the jhuggi cluster is narrow and fire brigade is finding it tough to enter while people found it very difficult to flee the area.

The fire is still raging.

It is being reported that the fire started much earlier, but independent corroboration is still being awaited.

The slum area had received a notice from the authorities to clear the area a few days ago for various violations.
